New member, A/C question
The AC in my LS is no longer working. I have the R12 refrigerant. When I hit the AC on button it acts as if it will work and then the light begins to blink and the air does not get cold. Anybody have any ideas what this could be??

Welcome to the club!!!! Just a few pointers for future posts and questions.
1. Since you're statins in LS forum, I assume you have an LS. ( I know... Duh!!!!) LOL!!!
2. please give us as much information as you possibly can such as year, problem you are having with as many details as you can, etc.
3. There are alot of members here with a wealth of information to offer and we are here to help, so just be aware that not everyone is on the serious level.
Now, in answer to your question. I assume that because you are still running R-12 that you have an older model LS. I have a 92 myself and the symptom that you describe has never happened to me. This is just an opinion, and by no means the bible on where to start looking, but it sounds like the blinking light could either be a relay problem, or a true signal that your AC is completely shot and will not work at all. Translation-- serious $$$$. It would help if you could provide m,ore information. when you raise the hood and look under the car with the AC on, is the compressor even working?? There are just so many things that could be wrong and with the vague details you have provided it will be hard for us to help. Please repost with as many details, observations, wierd sounds, etc as you can and we will be more than happy to try to help,

Thanks for some posting guidelines. Here's a little more about what's going on. Yes, the car is a 92 LS. The problem started last summer but the AC worked sporadically. When I first turn on the AC you can hear the compressor start and the revs drop just a little bit. However, after a few seconds the compressor stops...

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but it sounds like you got a major repair bill coming. Truly sounds like the AC is completely dead. I would have it looked at by a shop for diagnosis.
