Default Cleaning winshield washer sprayers?

3 out of the 6 spray heads are clogged on my LS and was wondering if anyone has tried cleaning them out?

I thought of using a very small needle? Maybe take them out and soak it in chemicals (CLR), simple green, for a few minutes to try and losen the grime in there, but I don't want to ruin the paint.

Any success stories out there?

I've used acupuncture needles on mine with some success.

mine are clogged as well. I tried using a pin and toothpick; didn't help much. now only one side of my sprayer works. my mechaninc said he can change it for me, for a price of course but for now, mine sprays only on the driver's side.

Haven't really looked but are the sprayers molded to the painted housing?

They are actually very easy to change, and any model Lexus is compatible... I've heard good things about the ES and newer LS430 ones (you have to pain them though).

I tried a sewing needle and that worked great.

To take them out, just insert a business card from the front and back, and push (or close them together), and it will come right out.

I figured a sewing needle would work with a little CLR on it to get rid of the hard water grime! Thanks for the tip on taking them out.

try running a vinegar/water combo throught the sprayer and see if that helps

i may do the ls430 spray swap if i can find a place to paint them....cheap.

A single strand of wire of a multistrand bundle.

Meaning, to take a peice of light weight wire, strip off about a half inch of the insulation. Then fold down all but a single strand in the center of the bundle. Use this center strand while holding the bundle to probe the hole in the washer.

I also used the sewing needle to redirect the sprayers to where i want them on the winsheild... they were a bit off. One was spraying way too high to be of any good... and it was just causing too much of a mess everywhere when it went off.

It should also be mentioned that the reason they clog in the first place is usually from dried-out minerals in the washer water.

Once you clear them, use distilled water in your washer mix to help keep them that way.

Mine used to shoot out sticky fluid. Now, only one shoots out...the driver's side sprayer doesn't spray anything out at all...any solutions for this without paying my mechanic to change everythign for $60?
