Brakes and Purring
My brakes are grinding and the car makes a purring sound when it is running, any ideas. Im no mechanic.
I just had the brake pads replaced about 2,000 miles ago.
Also my tires are making a screatching noise when i turn.
Please help. Can't afford to buy another car.

Did you have all four brake pads changed, or just the front? I know last time I changed mine I just did the front, now it time to change all of them. Are you sure the screeching isn't just low or contaminated power steering fluid?

For the brakes I'd go back to where you got them done and have them re-checked. Need more info - did they replace or turn the rotors or just slap new pads on?
As for the noise when you turn - is it kind of a moaning sound when you just turn the steering wheel (car is not moving)? Or does it make noise when the wheels are turned and the car is rolling?
If it's the first thing - it' probably the steering fluid like tha1027455 said. If it's the latter...well...uh, couldn't tell ya.
