Default 96 LS Nakamichi Problem

Hi There...

I just picked up a 96 LS. It's a great car...The 6 disc changer is giving me problems. It won't play CD's. It goes through the process of looking for CD's in the magazine when I load the magazine into the changer, but then it won't play a CD and eventually gives me ERROR 21 on the display.

1) Anyone have experience with this?

2) Any idea what this code means or how to find out what it means?

3) Any suggestions?

I'm calling the dealer tomorrow to find out how bad it's gonna be...I'm guessing I'll be better off to spend the money on an Ipod instead of getting it fixed and play the tunes via the FM tuner...

Thanks!

Patrick

do this, instead of posting up a new thread for every problem, go and SEARCH!!!

this is a common problem in our cars, go check old posts (via the lovely SEARCH button in the top left) in this forum and the audio/electronics forum.

Hey Whale,

I had the same problem with my LS 98” when I first bought it couple months ago. I thought the CD changer was not working, most of the time when fixing a problem it’s always the little things that make a difference.
Solution: The CD is loaded incorrectly, flip the CD around!!

Also, does anyone have any instructions for removing the changer?? Would that be in a LS repair manual from an auto parts store?

Hey Know-it-all...You must not have read my questions. There is no other post regarding my 2nd question.

Thanks for stating the obvious.

actually there are NUMEROUS posts with similar problems happening in a RANGE of lexus models and even one or two threads in the LS forum itself. i did a quick search in just the audio/electronics forum and came up with over 3 pages of RELEVANT results.

next time try to not attack me and maybe il give u a link.

Well, I am trying to figure out what Error Code 21 is. I initially searched before posting, and searched tonight with no luck on 21.

Cheers.
