Cool

I want to do something to upgrade the ignition on my 97 LS400 and I've done some reading and homework but I'm still not 100% sure on a few issues.

I know I can go with the Magnacor wires if I want to spend like $350 on a set, that's pretty expensive but the Magnacore site has a lot of great info.

After reading everything I'm concerned that buying the wrong ignition wires will give me RFI/EMI headaches. Will the low resistance wires by Vitek, Jacob, MSD be a bad choice?

What about a new ignition system from MSD, Jacob, etc. There are inductive spark and capacitive spark systems available. Which would be the best for the LS? Should I consider a standard ignition upgrade or go with a Street Performance upgrade? Would the Street Performance system be worth the performance/dollar in an LS?

Thanks for any feedback.

Additude, the stock wires and spark plugs are good quality already,so if you ugrade them,I do not think it would be worth the $/performance.

Although I would try the Magnacors becuase I also heard good things about them, but I want to see the results on a LS before I an willing to use $350 for more horsepower.

edogg,

Thanks. However I have ordered dual ICE Packs from JacobsElectronics and a set of 8.5MM Magnecore Wires from Overboost. I needed dual packs because my LS has twin distributors. Jacobs is having an inventory closeout until the end of the month so I did get a good deal.

The other day I changed out the Denso I's plugs with Bosch Platinums. I felt a little smoother at idle and not much difference in accelleration, but I haven't really given it a test yet.

The new K&N filter makes a difference. The filter and the plugs were within a week of each other so I'm still getting used to the filter and maybe wouldn't notice the plugs performance.

Out of all the people I talked to on the phone and emailed only one person had any "Insight" into the LS ignition requirements. Marc at Jacobs. He knew exactly what was needed, probably because he had a friend trick out the ignition on their LS. But he was a great help.

Now I am waiting on the toys. I'll post back when it's all said and done and let you know if it was worth the money.

Since the LS4 and the SC4 share the exact engine. Here is a thread that can help as well...
