i need to know what spark plugs are the best for me to use on my sc400?
should i get factory plugs or aftermarket plugs?
i've been hearing a lot about the Denso Iridiums...

I like to use NGK plugs, they seem to be a favorite with the supra owners... if you cruise there forums at all.. just a thought to think of when choosing some new plugs when you end up getting some.

whatever you do; don't get those dual or quad tipped spark plugs; they are crap and a waste of money

You only need those thicker, sheilded wires when you are running with an ignition amplifier and/or aftermarket coil. The bigger diameter handles the increased current - stock wires will burn up. If you do not have an msd or equivalent aftermarket ignition system, these wires will have no performance aspect. They may look good. I will post the part number for the ngk/nippon denso lexus recommended plugs when I get home.

edit: did not realize you were referring to uz-fe. I don't have the manual for that or know the gap recommendations or plug recs for that motor.

Stock wires,Irridium plugs.
The Bosch wires don't fit very well in the stock wire retainers, and probably aren't any better than the stock wires, which come with some nice anti-fatigue spiral wrap;high quality.

Default Welcome

Welcome to the club dumdumgreg,

I would stick with the factory plugs. They come with the factory spec 0.043in gap and you know you will not have problems with them.

If your SC is older why not simply do a full tune-up and replace these parts.

Get:

Stock spark plugs 90919-01178 Qty 8

Distributor Caps 19101-50020 Qty 2

Rotors 19102-50020 Qty 2

Wires 90919-22262 Qty 1

i already did the distrubutor caps and rotors... at 130,000 miles the caps still looked ok.. but could have stayed but, decided to change it.. i plan on changed the plugs soon thats why im asking..
i had bought the aftermarket cap and rotors at autozone does it matter? i was planning on getting the denso iridiums and stock wires... so your saying thats not good? i should stick to stock?
