I'm getting ready to have mine painted too. It's a '94 LS400 with oxidation and the clearcoat coming off. I went to a couple of commercial paint places. Basically they said it would be $1800 to do the roof, hood and trunk. They would not pull anything off. And if I added the front quarter panels, another $500. Just to humor my wife, I went to Maaco for a quote. Their best quality job would be almost $2000 as well, and they would do only minor body touchups and just tape off the car before spraying it. The guy basically told me the cheap paint jobs they do are just that, cheap. If he did one to my car he said he would have to apologize to me when he was done for ruining my car. Not that I would have let him anyway. My wife isn't sure we should spend this amount of money to paint the car, so she wanted me to go and check it out.

So recently I was talking to someone recently who mentioned a guy who has a private shop with three bays on his property where does paint jobs. I went to see him and he said he'd do it for $1500 including removing the molding and other parts that should be removed. He would need the car for about 2 weeks.

I'm not sure what kind of paint he is going to use, but it seemed to be on the higher quality end of things. We talked a bit about his business and how long I can expect it to look good, etc. He seemed to know what he's talking about. I think he's been doing this for about 10 years or so.

Just painted my 97. Everything pulled off, windshield replaced, came to $3,500. I painted mine primarily because the previous owner replaced a windshield and scratched the paint under it's edges. Eventually it began to rot under the roof windshield molding and I was afraid that it would rust through (that's how I convinced my wife to spend the bucks. In addition, the car was a repo when I bought it almost 5 years ago and was all scratched up. Tomake the long story short, The car came out great. I had the body molding painted the same color - looks much better IMHO.

This link talks about the bushings.

I don't remember where I bought them, but you can just Google them. They are slightly better then stock. However, since they replaced bushings that had 150K miles on them, I'd say that there is no real difference. Get them if you want to mod your ride. If you just need bushings, buy OEM and don't bother. You won't notice any difference.
