There always seems to be a lot of talk of forced induction mods to Lexus engines, why has no one taken an all motor approach of: raising the compression ratio with forged pistons\rods and a slightly bigger bore and larger cams to get some more horsepower from this engine ?

You could of course build up the engine as you state. The problem is if you go with more aggressive cams you will loose the smoothness these cars are designed to deliver. More compression would give more power but not much especially compared to the cost of an engine rebuild. Forced induction (turbo/supercharge) can be added to the otherwise stock (smooth) engine and gains can be considerable.

It just would not be worth the cost of the hp per $$$ ratio for a NA build.Again it will gain some, but if you spent the same amount on forced induction, you will get more hp.

Also like jbrady stated you will lose the quietness and smoothness of the Lexus engine.
