Transmission Shutter?
Possible problems?
I have a 1992 ls 400 with 90,000 miles on it. When I get over 45 mph and try to hold a constant speed it feels like my trans. shutters { moves in and out of lock-up}. I checked the trans fluid and it's clean and doesn't smell burnt. I replaced plugs, wires and TPS no luck .
Any Ideas??

Does the shudder occur when you are driving up an incline and the transmission downshifts?
Does it feel like you are driving over rumble strips embedded in the road?
If so, this is a very common problem with the early LS models. My 93 did it for several years after I got the car. Sometime around the year 2000, I had the transmission serviced with a drain and fill. The shudder stopped, and it has never returned.
The original ATF was Toyota Type II, I believe. The drain and fill was done using the current ATF, Toyota Type IV. Perhaps there is something in the new fluid which eliminates this problem.

Hello,
I had the shuttering that felt like you are driving over rumble strips embedded in the road? After a complete flush with filter changing and cleaning the pan and it did not occur since that. The car always had an regular ATF change with around 2 quarts from the beginning.
