please help when key is turn to on check engine does not come on.only when car is running light comes on/ black smoke from tail pipe at idle when reved up car won"t go past 3000rpm keeps skipping

 

Do you know how to get the check engine codes? What year is your car?

 

Go to any Autozone or discount Auto parts, they will read your codes for free.

Pull out the negitive battery terminal for 15mins, and see if it resets anything. Sounds like your running rich for some reason. Could be an ECU problem, or an actual mechanical issue.
