Engine ticking fixed in 1UZ
can someone pls help me. i had my water pump replaced by lexus. What parts were removed to replace the water pump? Since getting the car back, my car vibrates in drive and when I hit the accelerator, especially between 60- 65 mph and at high speeds...but only when I use the accelerator. Before replacing the water pump, the car was very quiet during idling, but I did experience the vibrations ablve before replacing the water pump...
Lexus told me to replace the transmission mount....I did that ...the vibration still exist...I cannot afford to keep experimenting with different guest fixes..., too expensive.....next lexus suggested that I replace the 2 front motor mounts.
Pls some one help me. What should I do? There's nothing with the mich harmony tires...already had them checked, and re-balanced...nice and round.
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Gwen

Have someone put the car on a lift and inspect the tranny mount to make sure they actually put a new one in there. That is supposed to stop the vibration. From what I understand you shouldn't have to change your engine mounts, have them inspected first. The mounts are liquid filled. I've never had mine changed, but always inspected and they're still good with 244100k on the clock, still riding smooth.
Gwen,
Are you still having the problem? If so, two thoughts. 1) Mounts are easy to check. For the motor mounts, put car in park have someone push gas pedal in quickly while you observe engine. If motor mount is bad, engine will rotate in same direction as serpitine belt is turning. Normally the engine should move only slightly if at all. If that checks out ok, I would suspect the water pump installation. If they removed the timing belt to get to the water pump and installed it such that one of the overhead cams were off one tooth on the belt would see rough acceleration because the timing would be off just enough to run rough but at idle would appear to be ok. Just food for thought. Let us know what you find.

i had this ticking on my 93 ls also. it had 125k on it. i just let it go cuz i really
didnt want to get a valve adjustment. but then i cant pass DEQ with my broken egr pipe.
so when i replaced the pipe, the ticking went away!

I have been trying to find out what is wrong with my car for 2 1/2 months, Toyota and Lexus don't know what is wrong with it, I paid them 500 dollars to adjust the valves and that didn't fix it. I had my local Toyota dealer do the Timing Belt water pump, etc. Upon the car returning it has this new ticking noise, at first they thought valves, injectors, ruled all that out after 2 months, no check engine no miss.
Seems to have slightly lost power and just a little harder to start. I am hoping that what you describe is what's wrong with my car.
If you feel like chatting about this on the phone I would really like to talk to you and see if this indeed what is what is wrong wih my car too
My toll free number is 1-888-705-5625 or 541-482-5625
Thanks Ben
