Hopefully yours isn't broken, mine was, here's what you need: http://www.lexls.com/tutorials/audio/powerantenna.html

Default Great tutorial, that.

Excellent pics and descriptions. I just did my M.I.L.'s last night. And I needed a quick reference to build up the courage to start unbolting things. This was perfect.

One suggestion to save time and aggravation before removing the motor. Allows you to skip Step 13 and is much neater than Steps 15, 16, 17, 18 & 19.

You CAN remove the broken mast first, as shown in Step 1, even if the toothed plastic strip is broken inside. Just loosen the castle nut on the top of fender (outside), grab the tip of the mast with pliers, turn on the radio, and pull up on the mast as the motor spits it up. If the plastic toothed strip is really broken, then there is nothing there to keep you from pulling the mast right out.

Then, when you first take off the motor cover in Step 12, you just find and pull out the extra broken-off plastic toothed strip hiding in the white donut and throw it away. Don't waste time trying to take out the gears, rethreading the new toothed strip from the new mast into the gears and donut. Just put the black cover back on. Reinstall the motor into the fender and connect the cables and coax.

NOW, before you put the castle nut back on, you can feed the end of the nice clean toothed strip sticking out of the new mast, down into the hole (teeth facing rearward), give it a little push down to seat it, and then have a friend turn OFF the radio. The motor will suck down the new mast toothed strip and wind it nicely into the motor for you. No mess, no fuss.

Worked for me.

FYI, same procedure to change my wife's 2000 Toyota Land Cruiser. Double victim of Car Wash snapping it (the metal part of the mast) off. In those cases, the plastic strip was still intact.

Thanks for a great forum. I'll be lurking here.

bumping an old thread...but where can I buy this antenna? My 93 LS400 has an antenna mast that won't go up anymore (some idiot pushed it down by force) but the motor still works.

Lexus part number would be greatly appreciated for anyone in the know (I think 1990-2000 are pretty much the same)

I know Pep Boys carries a comparable aftermarket antenna for Toyotas. I think this would work for our cars also...
...it's selling for around $15-17.

Just search ebay. A generic antenna mast will run you about $20.

Saw those in ebay, also heard they were of noticeably lesser quality.
