Thumbs up New hood struts?

Anyone out there replaced their hood struts recently? Mine are shot and I've resorted to using a 4' pole to holding up the hood

Alas, I'm thinking on just going with some lifetime replacements from the local auto parts store... any comments/ideas?

If you don't want the joys of drilling it out, you can grind the head down. Whether it is on the disc or a handheld rotary grinder.

Thanks for the link.

Yeah, you do need some equipment. I'm sure you have a neighbor that has a bench grinder, only takes a few moments to grind enough away to remove the retaining pin in the socket.

Thumbs up

I've got gobs of tools, that's not the problem... I can fix pretty much anything. I have a compressor, TQ wrenches, micrometer, vice, and a grinder. I got mine on sale at the Home Depot for $30.

I thought they'd snap in and out like other vehicles lift struts is all, not that I'd have to modify new ones to fit where the OE ones do.

Yeah...stuff like this should be available off the shelf for a simple bolt-on swap.
