Can you install Sirius Satellite without major mods? to 2000 LS 400
does anyone know if you can install Sirius satellite to a 2000 Ls 400 w/o major mods. Can it be run through the existing stereo or something similar or do you have to install the receiver on the dash or something tacky like that?
any help, thoughts, suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Also, upgraded my old 94 ls to new 2000. Needing to sell old one....any rec's on where to post. Great car, Jade/black interior, motor is great, needs a little work though. Just need to get rid of it... no room in garage.
Thanks
William

I installed a Sirius satellite to my '95. I kept the stock headunit and used a Kenwood FM modulator. I think it looks really clean, sounds great, and I didn't have to hack up the dash. Here is the unit I used:

I had ABT electronics in Chicago do the installation. The unit is velcro'd in place. It fits right between the top of the shifter and the bottom of the ashtray. in a great spot. You can rest your elbow on the arm rest and your fingertips on the tuner, and surf stations. I have a picture of the install, but I have no way to host it.
To get the Sirius signal, you just tune to 88.x (whatever isn't being used in your area) and it comes through the stereo. I'd say the sound quality is in between the FM feed and the CD feed.
The antenna is on the roof for now. I may move it inside. I guess that Sirius is coming out with a new antenna that mounts to the windshield, so I will probably hold out for that. The electronics are in the right side trunk well. Let me know if you have any questions.

Just announced at this week's CES:
The latest Sirius head unit is the size of a pack of cards:
If you can find room for that somewhere on your dash you're in business for just over $100. According to http://www.vaistech.com/aic100x.html, the VAIS will cost from $299 to $359, plus installation charges.

Not sure about the 95/94 model year, but for those with 98 LS or 01 GS, read my other post here:
