1990 lexus ls400
i found a 1990 lexus ls400 and i have negotiated the price to $5300...i want to get the price down to $5000...the car is in pretty good condition at 131k miles...minor leather wear on the interior...antenna doesnt go up or down...paint has a couple of scatches here and there...front bumper paint is a bit cracked...exhaust tips are dented....waterpump and timing belt were not replaced until the waterpump was leaking at 129k miles...trunk and tail lights were smashed in by a truck and replaced with all oem parts...you can see when the trunk is opened that the inside is a bit bent...motor is quiet....what do you guys think of this lexus? what else should i look for?
can someone also run me a carfax please...thanks very much...all is appreciated...

Is he car a salvage title?
Check by the alternator and see if there are any P/S fluid leaking, that is a major repair.
Look underneath the car and see if there are any frame damage.
You can probably get that cheaper. Good luck

By your description looks like the trunk area was completely replaced with OEM parts. What you can do is look 'IN' the trunk and take off all the parts that cover the trunk area and look around for anything that doesnt "look right"..
The antenna not going up is nothing major, mine doesnt go up and I still get very good reception.
So they replaced the waterpump, but did they replace the timingbelt?
My1990 with 140+++ miles I got for $3999 but keep in mind I put in about $3000 worth of repairs to get it to where its at now...a perfectly good running car.

Stay Away
Sounds like a car that has not been cared for. I would stay away from it. Any car with 100,000 miles on it and a lack of proof of good care is likley to need major work. Pull the dip stick and take a smell. If it smells burnt, stay away. The engine has gotten way to hot. Find a freindly dealer and ask them to run a history on the car. It will show you every time a dealer saw the car, why, and the odomiter reading. And I would saw the price sound way high. One last thing.Always find out from your insurance company what it will cost for the car you are thinking about. Some cars run a lot more then others.
