Default swapping the torque converter

I would like to find out if the torque converter from a 92LS can be swapped with a 93LS. are the transmissions the same in both years ? more over how much labor is involved in doing so ? I have access to a 92LS and want to get the torque converter out of that one due to the vibration/shrudder that I experience around 40mph or so. The solution has been pointed out to be the torque converter and therefore I want to try that option.
I can have a private mech. do the labor but he's not so familiar with lexus and therefore I want to do my homework befure induldging in this task.
thnx.

Y not get a upgraded TC, it'll make U faster, plus you R taking everything apart anyways, so u might as well put something good in it.

Lots of other owners with shudddering issues found the problem disappeared once they replaced the ATF. You may have already tried this but I thought I'd mention this just in case you haven't.

I had the ATF replaced at the dealer, the problem was fine for a couple of weeks but came back. They only did a fluid change and not a flush. Does it have to be a flush ?

The shudder that I had in my 93 LS 400 disappeared when I had the transmission fluid drained and refilled. I did not have it flushed.

That was about 2-3 years ago. The shudder never returned.

I would try a series of drains and refills (or a full flush). Make sure the right fluid is used. My 93 LS called for Toyota Type II, which is no longer available. Toyota Type IV is its replacement. I don't know what fluid was specified for the 92 LS.
