good. in that case I think we are talking about the same zymol liquid wax in blue bottle. I will apply zaino this weekend and will post update regarding results. but from what I have been reading, zaino is great. my car is silver, so I am not expecting the super high gloss effect that can be achieved on the black paint, but still want to see if it makes a difference. in one respect though, protection and durability, I am expecting zaino to win hands down. so, we'll see...
I thought that I would need zaino to make my car shine but I got the same results with finish 2001 which annoyed me since I had just gone out and got the nxt stuff that I read raves about. I think after 2 coats of 2001 my car looks shiny.
looks good. I also have the same silver color ls430. Although my opinion is that silver is a tough color to judge the polish on, I will be doing zaino for its durability and protection more than for its gloss properties. I am pretty sure though that the car will look nice after zaino. We'll see. I though I had pretty good results with zymol wax as well. Can't wait to see if zaino will be more reflective and deeper shine. Anyway, Finish 2001 rated at #14 and C+ on Guru Reports Wax Tests. Zaino rated number 1 and A- and was the only one to last through snow and ice storms and washing and still bea water after week 8 with moderate amount of beads and bead size 1/8x1.00" and retain its optical qualities for over 8 weeks.
Originally posted by audphile1 Looks awesome! I just got zaino Z2, ZFX and gloss spray from local distributor. Will do the detailing this weekend. Don't know though if it will make a difference on my silver LS430 as it is already smooth and shiny, but I sure will do it for the protection more than for the gloss as the winter is coming up. Your car looks great though. I am looking forward to see the difference between zaino and zymol I have just used about a month ago.
From Dave in Bklyn huh?

Smells like coconut.
Although I did NOT prep my car like Diesel11, I really like the results. The only thing I did to prep was washing it with DAWN and clayed the car down. After that, I washed with Meguires carwash and then I applied Zaino. This is with ONLY 1 coat of Z-2. I didn't even spray the Z-7.
Next spring, I plan to prep it properly. I didn't have the time or knowledge of what polish to use and I don't have a buffer.
that's right Cadd!!! Dave's good. I spent like an hour over there and he explained what I have to do and showed me how on one of his cars. hey, your car looks great man. I like good polish on black paint. makes it look great.
the rain should bead up in tight little beads and when you begin driving it will gather and then sheet off in big clumps. you shouldnt see any rain at all gather on your car while driving afterwards. it looks like special effects.

not saying the finish 2001 is all that, its just what I found laying around AFTER I had spent the money on the nxt wax. I figured that I would put the finish 2001 on for the winter since it says on the bottle it its basically urethane and I put a second coat on basically to get rid of the bottle and to add protection. it shines like hell though, and if you look closely at the body of my car you can see all kinds of reflections. yeah its not as evident as on a black car but then swirl marks arent either. I think it looks good but the nxt will out perform it.

I think they are more along the lines of the cl 500 rims but I am not keeping up with benzes anymore so I dont really know. they look a lot better than I thought they would on the car and everyone here [where I live] seems to love the look especially lexus salespeople and even the courtesy van driver interrupted me while I was talking to an SA to compliment the look. of course they could have been just kissing my *** which is sad but thats life. really wish I had the silver center caps to match but thats what tire rack sent me.

I definitely think that silver cars make it hard to judge the polish/depth of shine issue, but silver is a great color. On a dark car like mine, you notice defects more easily, so the prep is probably more important. However, applying a wax over a poorly prepped and cleaned surface can trap rust and oxidation beneath the wax, which can cause problems. I think the Dawn wash and clay-bar steps are a minimum to avoid this. My polishing extravaganza with the pc 7424 was primarily due to prior owner/dealership neglect.
If you were to do all the polishing steps and then use Zymol or NXT Tech wax, I'm sure the results would be quite similar. I'm just partial to the Zaino process as a personal preference.
The water-beading effect is pretty cool...kind of like a science experiment lol!
The only problem I have is that when driving I get distracted by the mirror-like reflection from the front hood. Again just kidding!
Oner nice thing about synthetic waxes is that they can last longer, which might get me through more of the winter, as it's hard to Zaino in the cold and snow.
