Default Seat Heater install

i know that the 2000 LS had seat heaters as options, unfortunately the one i bought didnt come with them. i was wondering if it is possible for me to get the parts from somewhere(stealership??) fairly reasonabley and install them myself or is it one of those things better off left for professionals? and if i can do it myself, how extensive of a mod is this.

PS-im talking about the stock seat heaters, not aftermarket ones.

You listed your 2000 as being a Platinum Series. It must be a Platinum "SE" since the "SF" (Nakamichi) and "SG" (Navigation) variations both came with seat heaters. And the wood trim in all three variations is "bird's eye maple" - not walnut as in the non-Platinum. Wheels identical to the 2001 LS430 wheels came on all three 2000 LS Platinum variations.

I assume you would have to change the wood in the console since the seat heater switches are above and to the right of the ashtray (see the attached photo). And then you have the wiring harness issues to deal with. I have to admit that we like the seat heaters in the winter but I doubt if we would miss them if the car did not have them. We've had lots of cars with leather or vinyl over 35 years without seat heaters and it wasn't a big deal - even at -20 degrees in northern Iowa.

It would probably be less expensive to find an LS that has the options you want instead of trying to add them.

your right, it is an SE, i forgot to mention that. and it is bird's eye maple, i always get confused because my last LS was walnut.

as for the seat heaters, i live in SoCal so its not that big a deal for me, i thought that if it was for a few hundred dollars why not. but if its as extensive as u say its definitely not worth it. id i really wanted it i could get an aftermarket kit and have that installed but when the temp reaches 104+(today) u realize that u dont want seat heaters...ever.

il go fix my sig now thnx!
