Change out headlight bulbs...
#2
Hey did this several weeks ago with my 93 LS. Switch the OEM with some Piaas H4 bulbs. They look preety tight!
Instructions:
1. Open your hood first
2. Remove the air intake box and the battery to get room for your hands.
3. Unscrew the side lights (the ones next to your front head lights, and the screw is on top). Just one screw.
4. Gently but firmly pull them out (held in by one popper).
5. Unhook the 168 wedge light bulb (Now you have room for your hands).
6. Remove the plasitc protective covering behind the headlight (Just twist and turn it till it comes out).
7. Unplug the bracket that is connected to the H4 bulb.
8. Twist the grey round brace and pull it off.
9. Remove the protective rubber covering (you might want to armourall the rubber so it will last longer).
10. Unhook brackets holding the H4 bulb in and pull the bulb out (becareful in that when you unhook the bulb will automaticly fall out).
11. Replace and put everything back together.
12. Do the same for the other side.
12. Put the air intake and battery back.
Oh, while your changing the H4 bulb, you mine as well change the wedge bulb to to match the effect your going with the head lights. This should take you about an hour to do.
Good luck.

Thanks Lou Le
Anything should I do before I remove the battery? My most concern is my OEM Nagamachi stereo system then other theft deter. things? Will my car will start, stereo/radio will work after I remove the battery?

Everything will be OK.
Just remeber that once you take out the battery every memory set is lost (car seat setting, radio stations, what ever your mileage for A & B, etc.).
My recommendation is get your seat set where you like it and the side mirrors set and once you put the battery back just reset your seat memory. Radios and other things your gonna have to reset.
Hey while all that stuff is out you mine as well clean the engine while your at it!
Have fun now!

Do these directions hold true for the '97 halogen headlights as well? All of the directions that I saw were for the '91-'93. I was trying to remove the driver's headlight and the corner light seemed like it wasn't trying to come out. Just want to be sure before I yank it out that I'm doing the right thing. Thanks.
Also....what are the years of the Gen I and Gen II LS?

nah those directions doesn't show how to remove headpiece.
IT's pain in the butt to take them out but I never bothered taking it out, i remember I got a hole size of a bb on my headpiece and water got inside and blew out my bulb. I couldn't get the headpiece out to shake the water off. Nor i couldn't even drill a dang hole on the headpiece with the drilling tool. dang that thing is like bulletproof but how the heck did I get a hole up there?
What I did was took the fog light out then pierce a hole thru side of headpiece, then drill a hole on bottom to drain all the water out. lolz. then I sealed the hole in front with silicone and cover the hole on side with masking tape.
Don't put high wattage bulbs, it'll melt/burn your wires. you need a wiring kit to add aftermarket high watt bulbs, such as xenon bulbs.
I could go check what the recommended and minimal wattage to use without adding the kit.
but i'm too lazy. Try Sylvania. those are safe.

Thanks nagasakki, but i'm looking moreso at the procedure. I'm not going to step up the bulb and try to get more output.....I just need to know how to get to the bulb. Thanks.

9004 is the correct application for your '92. When you say "65/45W 130/120W" I'm assuming 65/45W => 130/120W, which means it runs at 65/45W, but simulates 130/120W output? You may want to get another one of those "xenon" bulbs to match the other headlight, otherwise you'll have one headlight that's blue-ish white and another that's yellowish white.
You might also consider Sylvania Silverstars, Mtec, PIAAs, RAZO, or Raybrig (pricing is from lowest to highest respectively). Use the advanced search funcion and you'll find all the answers you need, and then some.

what, so the 89-92 are 9004, but the 93-94 are h4?
wtf, i ordered some 9004 bulbs cuz the a few sites i checked said that for 93, its 9004 bulb.
why did lexus have to change the bulb size? its the same headlight!

they changed it because the 9004bulbs light output sucks compared to H4.
