Default 150+mph?

last night i raced camero z28 in my 96 ls400. my car has 130000milies and it's 100% stock except for some computer tuning. lexus was keeping up with the camero with out any problems. i was very surprised how fast these cars are. my gauge was reading around 150mph and it was still pulling strong. what is the top speed on lexus ls400?

For our year it's either 151 or 153mph if I recall correctly so you pretty much reached it.
Was that on a closed track? If not, I hope that was the 1st time and last time you
drive that fast on the freeway but I'm assuming your young so I doubt it.

Please drive safely in the future!
I am done lecturing you now.

yo I hope it was no one out there and your going that fast with a stock car. I always wanted to know what the top speed is on my 2000 LS400 but the road is never open enough to try it out. I don't know where but someday i'll find out when I get the car lowered.

In the UK, LS400s have always been electronically restricted to 155mph (the fuel shuts off at that speed). Some engineers speculate that given LS400's good aerodynamics, it would make somewhere in the region of 165mph unrestricted.

Hey 150 mph is just a blast. At the same time I would not go that fast on any road while racing. I did it but I was by myself. Here is the post I wrote about my Top Speed run.

I used to be just like you. Then I had WAYYYYY too many close experiences so I quit going that fast. Now I just keep it in the low 100s. I know ppl lecturing you wont have an impact on you. If you ever have a close experience, you will give up driving that fast by yourself. If you get caught by a cop you're screwed. Even if you have a radar its going to be hard to slow down from 150+ to the speed limit, which I'm guessing is 60-70. I have gotten lucky with a cop. I was going 130 in a 45 and by the time my radar caught it it was too late. I didnt have time to slow down. Fortunately, the cop's radar malfunctioned at the last minute. He did pull me over and ask how fast I was going but how am I supposed to know?? Thats the day I quit going that fast on streets. If you must speed, do it on the freeway. Congrats on your speed. But just remember bro... the slightest mistake could lead to death. No ones here to lecture you...Drive safely!!!

Not trying to be negative, but I wonder if you do any long term damage or harm to the car by going that fast, something that will shorten the car's life. What do you guys think?

Hi,

my dads LS now has 440000km on the odo. He does a lot of high speed travelling (>200km/h)on the Autobahn. I dont think it does any harm to a well maintained car. On the speedo the car still drives 275 km/h. I believe in real it is a bit faster than 250km/h.

1st it's Camaro. No "e". LOL (sorry but I hate it when people put an "e" in it)

2nd, from what speed did you start?

I would find it hard to believe if you kept with a '96 Z28 from a "dig" (stop). Or even from 60-70 mph. I have a 95 that used to be stock or close to it for the longest time until I went internal (forged, stroked, and bored .030 over) and Supercharged it. But if you went from a higher speed (over 100) against a stock Z28 I could see this as believable.

Top speed in a stock Z28 is 154, but that is on a closed track with a professional driver. Once the rev limiter is removed I know guys who have done 183 is a modded SS.

Of course, this was a '96 and if it was stock and not adequately maintained then anything is possible, even from a dig.

Not doubting your story, just looking for more insight.

White Tiger he didn't say a 96 z28 he just said "camaro z28 in my 96 ls400" his LS is a 96 and the z28 is unknown year.

LeXuSrAcIn 130 on a 45 is pretty fast, I hope it wasn't near a residential area because 45 usually isn't in a highway

Nah it wasnt a residential area ( I never go above 20 mph in residential) It was this long stretch of road with lights about a mile or 3/4 of a mile away. BTW this happened when I first got my license. Ive gotten wiser over the years. I rarely go that fast on the freeway anymore either. I need time to slow down when my radar catches something.

True, my bad. Although I'd be interested to see which year. V8huntr...you out there?
