Question Hard To Steer?

1991 LS400 - the steering seems very very stiff (almost as if the power steering is gone) especially at slow speeds (backing out of parking space etc...) then it will be fine at higher speeds - any suggestions?
Thanks
Kaiser

Der Kaiser,

you may want to check the solenoid and screen on the steering rack. a quote from another thread

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...power+steering
toddatroos says;
Also, if you are replacing the pump, make sure you clean out the filter screen down on rack. This screen is located on the speed sensitive steering solenoid that is screwed into the pressure valve on the rack. You actually might try this first before doing the work on the pump. Your pump may be fine (word to the wise after many, many headaches with LS power steering!)

Good Luck and let us know how it goes,
