Default 92 LS400 Power Steering

So far, the info in the posts concerning power steering problems on LS400's has been good. I am have random periods of power steering failure, most notably after driving at freeway speeds, where the wheel basically freezes. I had system flushed today and thought I may have been home free when it occurred again. I'm going to try the screen cleaning next as the problem seems to be associated with the speed sensitive steering. In the mean time, I've purchased remaned ps pump, new high pressure hose and reman rack and pinion planning to just have all installed. I've been looking but have not found anything to let me know whether there are more than one type of rack and pinions for our cars. I've seen them listed with and without EVO components. I know that these components are related to speed sensitive steering but are they just extra with those racks that offer them with the rack and I will be able to reuse my currents parts with the rack w/out EVO components, or do I have to purchase a rack with EVO components.

I'm planning to sell the car in the next 5 months and don't want to invest a fortune, but I don't won't to sell the car with the current problem. If the rack with work, I will probably have it installed because one of the tie rods is a bit loose anyway, but in the end I want the random failures to end. Appreciate any and all info in advance.

Just out of curiosity. How do you flush the power steering pump. Sounds like a good idea but never done it?

Was lazy and didn't do it personally? Not sure what method they used. I've seen flush systems advertised and assumed they used a similar one but don't know for certain.

Cool

The flush may have done the trick. Steering demonstrated the same symptons for a day or so after the flush, but has improved to the point where it doesn't stick at all anymore after freeway speed driving as it did consistently before flushing. My fingers are crossed. I may have some parts for sale (reman pump, new hose and rack) if it holds up .
