i been having the same problem with my 95, but only with the heat.. it doesn't happen all the time, but sometimes if i put the heat on, it wont kick in until i put it all the up to 85, then i can bring it back down and it will be warm.. otherwise just cold air blows.. i hear the climate control is a little twitchy on older models, so it's pretty normal. what year is your LS ?

Default A/C

I have heard that with the control at max heat or max cool the system ignores the sensors and just goes to max whichever. It seems to me then that if the only way to get cooling is to go to max cool then the system "thinks" the passenger cabin is too COLD already. And vice versa.

An open cabin thermistor would tell the system "its too cold already"

A shorted one (much less likely)......"too hot already"

Thermistor, temperature sensitive resistor, little "window" just above the driver's right knee.

Default Termistor?

Hi,

My 98 LS 400 does the same thing? Is it the thermistor? Heater sensor?

Thanks, David

Try and clean the interior temp sensor located above the driver's knee as mentioned earlier.

Sometimes shops take that panel off, and forget to reconnect the sensor back before putting it all together.

don't know if lexus' are the same but in my infiniti, it's the lower steering wheel panel...have you had an alarm done recently? when the installer puts a valet switch down there, they will sometimes forget to reconncect that temp sensor...dont look on the dash panel, its under the dash...

Thanks! I took the "little window" off. It was dusty so I took the fuzz out. Still did not seem to work. I may have to actually go behind and find out if it is unplugged. I did have some stereo work done, but not much to the dash. But the installer did place a sub volume control **** down there - they may have unplgged the sensor....

Thanks Again!
