noise during idle??
Ok guys I need a hand here. I have a 93 LS400 with 140,000 on it. at idle i can heard a light low level sound inside the car. I cannot pinpoint it outside the car. We have put it on the lift and listened everywhere. NO LUCK. it sure does sound like exhaust maybe manifold. We listened close to the bottom end and it sounds ok. when the car goes above 2,000 rpm the sound is not heard. teh best I can tell is that it is on the drivers side(of course that is where i sit) while driving though you cannot hear the sound.
Anyone heard of this or is it a Valve/lifter?? just strange cannot hear it outside for nothing but prevelant while sitting

My car has a slight lifter tapping sound at idle, that can only be heard while outside of the car, but I have heard that this is common and normal for higher mile LS400s and is not a cause for concern.
