DFW shop recommendation needed for 1995 LS400 (UCF20 / 1UZ-FE)
I recently inherited a January 1995-built Lexus LS400 (UCF20, 1UZ-FE) with 162,000 miles. The car is in good overall condition, but it needs some mechanical attention, and I am trying to identify a reputable shop in the Dallas-Fort Worth area with genuine experience working on this platform.
I am not looking for a generic repair shop. I am looking for a shop or independent technician who understands the early LS400, is familiar with the 1UZ-FE and common age-related issues on these cars, appreciates the importance of OEM parts where they still matter most, and knows how to source quality alternatives when OEM parts are discontinued.
I have contacted three DFW shops so far. The one that seemed most promising declined the job, stating they do not work on cars this old because of parts availability. The other two have not responded to calls or email. From everything I have gathered, the dealership route is generally not ideal for a 1995 LS400 unless there is a very specific reason.
If anyone here has direct experience with a North Texas shop or technician who truly knows these cars, I would appreciate the recommendation. I am trying to find someone who can properly evaluate, repair, and maintain the car with the level of care this platform deserves.
