Default transmission help

so i went to buy an ls400 like 2 weeks ago and the owner before told me the torque converter might be going out so i’m not sure but i’ve been driving it around but i gotta wait for it to warm up all the way before i can drive or it’ll stall when it’s in d and if im stopped and i start to go if i step on the pedal lightly it’ll start shaking a lot and as soon as i let go it’s fine but if im stopped and i push on the pedal normally or a little bit harder it’s fine and it doesn’t shake or nothing but the other day i went out and did the same thing i always do cuz i was gonna drive and this time as soon as i put it in d it died and i turned it back on and went into d again and it stayed on but it was dying so i gotta like move fast before it stalls and if im stopped too long it starts to die and i gotta put it in park does anyone have any recommendations on what i could check or what else it could be and im guessing its not something i should be driving since thats messed up but im not too sure can somebody let me know, thanks!
