A solution to fixing your climate control system if it is stuck in reset mode and you cannot put it into diagnostic mode!! In my 95 Ls400
First things to check
- fuses under the hood and under the dash (cig(x2), heater)
- relays ( mg clt, heater, defog)
- (IAT) interior air temperature sensor (located under the key ignition)
- function of A/C compressor
None of these first steps were faulty on my behalf. Though I wanted to mention them because they are also culprits for the A/C not to work. Yes you will need to remove your glove box for this fix.
what my issue was that the blend door actuator was STUCK. I took the glove box out and when putting it back in I had adjusted it causing it to stick. There are 2 gold screws that hold it in place. I unscrewed them and moved the arm up and down. Turned the car to the ON position. Heard some whirling noises and alas my climate control system works again
attached below are some visuals. the little black box is the Actuator. Attached to it is the silver arm that moves the blender door from open/closed positions.
