Led for climate control
I just had my climate control go completly out today(commom problem I know).
I also red the many tutorials on how to replace them.
I want to use a led and not the lexus bulb.
What voltage LED will I need to get.
I just went to radioshack and got a 12v but that seems high and im afraid of burning something out.
Will a 4volt led work ok?

I recently replaced all my climate control backlighting with LEDs. Check out http://www.superbrightleds.com the bulb you need is a T1.5 instrument cluster bulb.
A new how to: http://www.pearsonimaging.com/LS/cli...klighting.html
One note: The indicator bulbs will remain green/yellow, these are already LEDs. They are soldered into one of the circuit boards. It could be done, however it would be VERY tricky work.......I see a future mod!

What year is your LS becuase I dont see any blue caps on mine(all green).
Also I went to that LED website and there is nothing about a T1.5 LED.
I went to radio shack and bought a 4volt and a 12 volt led. They both lite up but both where dim.
I work for Lexus so maybe im better off just geting the stock bulbs.I would love to see it in red or blue though.

Thanks for the info!
I have been thinking that I would have to replace the whole unit,
Your tutorial is great, It might just be enough to talk my wife into letting me do it on my own.
The process must be pretty much the same for the lights that are out on the stereo unit as well.
I am hoping because half the lights are out on my climate control, and stereo unit.
this is awesome.

Guys, pics of the finished product will be posted sometime tomorrow...or should I say today, it's late! I didn't want to post the final results until I had my LCD screen fixed. I fixed that today, and the tutorial for that is on the way, it still needs some work though. For now I can tell you this; the LEDs worked out great for lighting the LCD screen, but for button backlighting they are very dim. I have a feeling the problem lies in the fact that the LCD backlighting and button backlighting are different voltages. Since I barely change the temp in my car I'll probably leave it as is for now. It was about 20 degrees here today and I was outside putting my car back together! It had to be done, but I'm going to wait till it's warm to change anything. Altogether I'm VERY happy with my new dash lighting
