Default Having transmission issues

I made a pretty dumb mistake while working on my ls400 1997 when k was flushing the radiator I had the car running while flushing the system and some water fell onto the radiator fan and thus spraying it over the engine. I thought nothing much of it at the time but after refilling the coolant and bleeding the system k was getting ready to take it off ramps and for a drive to make sure it was no longer over heating to my surprise when I put the car in reverse Noo thing happens when I hit the gas it just lurches forward a little bit and stop. All other gears work sucks a D, 3,L and so on but I can’t get the car to reverse i would assume water got somewhere where it’s not supposed to be do you guys know what could’ve been damages to cost a transmission issue.

More likely that you dumped some transmission fluid when you were doing the flush. Check your ATF level and fill as necessary.

I checked atf fluid levels. They are as the should be but the car still goes forward in every gear except park and and reverse that inclined N and still does not go back in R could there have been a wire shortage somewhere that would’ve caused this.

I've seen instances sometimes there are electrical connectors that connect to the transmission where water into the connectors by the transmission or somewhere along the wires that connect to the transmission if water gets in the connector it causes problems like you are describing. So you'd want to trace the wires that you might think got wet and spray out the connectors with electrical connector spray cleaner. My guess is water got into a connector somewhere and is causing problem and seen reports of being fixed by simply spraying out the affected connector. Question is what connector did fluid get into, presuming that is what happened.

I have the dissenting opinion - I don't see how water spraying from the rad fan would do any damage. That's where water comes in when you're driving normally, its gonna spray it across the front of the motor. So all that stuff has got to already be waterproof.

I think it's more likely something unrelated just happened to start acting up. ECU, trans fluid, the trans itself, the ECU, the ECU, the ECU. Has the ECU been repaired?

I’m gonna clean up gunk around some connectors bc the car did have a oil leak and I have a suspicion that when it was at a angle some leaked on some connectors I’ll check it out after work

yeah I get what you’re saying but then a good amount got on to the engine and the car didn’t come with an engine cover when I bought it. The Ecu has not been repaired but I do have a extra for the car laying around
