1998 LS400 P0340 error - continued
Hi all, I have posted here a short while ago because the check engine light comes on, and VSC is off. It happens at 4000 RPM when it's in neutral, and at above 2100 RPM under load (e.g. going uphill). This error came after the timing belt, water pump, tensioner and a leaky thermostat housing were replaced. On suggestion of others, I have replaced the cam shaft position sensors. This did not fix the problem.
The guys in the workshop said that now we know it's not the sensors (nor the sensor cables/connectors as the problem doesn't occur at low RPM?), it's most likely the VVTi system not working correctly, e.g. on one side the cam timing does not adjust properly.
Has anyone had a similar issue? In December I'm bringing it back into the shop and they will look at the VVTi oil valve and cam pulley.
Cheers!
