Lexus ls400 1997 A340E trans pan discontinued...
Hello!! i am new to the club but been reading for a long time, i was wondering if transmission pans from 1998 models are interchangeable with 1997 ls400 even tho the A340e transmission from the 1997 may not be the same as the 98'-00 models. All transmission pans for part # 35106-30200 are discontinued and ebay has none that i can see either. so i am stuck trying to interchange parts from other models :,) my trans pan got damaged pretty badly and wont stop leaking also i over-torqued the drain plug...pls help this is my daily and need to change asap!
ps. also no junk yard near me have ls400 and facebook marketplace doesnt wanna give out just the pan since its very important to the transmission.
Thanks very much yall!

reason i ask again is because my car was made in year 1996 of november so it technically counts as 1997 according to my VIN , i am just hesitant on whether i should bite the bullet. Thank you very much!

Production date 08/1996 to 08/1997 means a 1997 model so your car is a 1997. You can confirm fitment here (site is not perfect but usually accurate) enter part number and your VIN.

95 to 97- A340e 35106-50020 discontinued part
98 to 00- A650e 35106-30200 available part
Different transmission different part number for the pan likely not interchangeable.

JT8BH28F3V0079952 i hope that can help but if its a 1995 chassis that means it would not work?
Sorry for the confusion.
edit - I can't tell you the exact production dates of donor cars that will have the pan you need, this is one of those times (not uncommon) where the parts diagram is not accurate enough. It shows 10/1994-06/1997 as donor range but that's wrong. Better way to be sure is you need a pan for a A340E transmission.

Try https://www.car-part.com/mobile/index.htm
You might find a salvage yard that will pull a pan off a transmission.

I see what is happening here. Lexus did not stick to the usual August as start of new production year/platform this cycle. Your car was manufactured in 11/1996 but I think it's essentially a 1996 model, or the transmission type changed not in sync with new model. If my parts diagram is accurate (we are not allowed to mention the site here) you need 35106-50020 which is hard to find.
Sorry for the confusion.

I don't know. Any way you can repair yours? Brazing or even soldering can fix cracks and the like.
Anyone know how accurate this is?

i would have fix the cross threaded drain plug and the bends it has , i may take the pan itself to a transmission shop nearby since thats the only reasonable option i see as of now.

can probably get it off a 92-97 SC400 also. I was able to use a Torque Converter lockup solenoid on my 97' off those years with the A340E from a JY and it worked fine.
