Default Sylvania Silverstar High Performance Lighting

Fellas:

Besides my GS, I also have a '97 Camry that I drive for everyday use.

I am not too happy with the standard headlight output and would like to have something considerably brighter but do so at a fairly low cost.

Does anyone have any experience with the Sylvania Silverstar bulbs. Th camry has 9003 bulbs and the Sylvania Silverstar are supposed to be the look of HId and have much more focused light than the factory ones.

The cost is $50.

This is my price range.

Are they worth it?

Ted

Ted, go with the Silverstars. They're probably the best halogen upgrades in the market. I installed them in my '96 ES, which has the 9006 bulb size. The slightly bluish tint around the bulbs helps achieve the whitish light output. They're rated pretty close to 4100K, but way better than the stock halogen rating (3200K?). Don't forget to wear rubber gloves when handling/installing these bulbs

There have been many threads covering this topic. I did a search and found a few:

I have them in my '93 ES300. swapping from 9006 to brighter 9005 silverstars helped the output noticably.

It's still not a substitue for HID. The silverstars don't even register on the map with my new 6000K phillips.

Note I did turn around and stick the 9005 silverstars into my highbeams the second the HID was mounted Gotta love far sighted plans LoL!

Yeah, definately best $50 mod on the planet if you don't allready have HID. FYI I think I paid $40 for mine at some local Advanced Autoparts. They even told me if I didn't like them I could bring them back. Good beans!

I recently won an auction on ebay for the sylvania silverstar 9003 and my total cost is $30 shipped to my door.

Its far better than paying $53 (tax included) buying these @ the store.

Again, ebay rocks!!
