Default Which Silverstar??

I decided on a set of Silverstares for my '96 ES. $38 at Walmart is about what I'm willing to pay.

But which type to get? There is a model 9006 and a 9005. They both have the socket for my car, the same size bulbs, and identical information of the packaging. One has a blue tint bulb with a coated tip, while the other has purple tint with no coating on the tip. Any idea how they'd look, or how they would differ?

I think Silverstars are rated at 4000; is this bright enough to be a problem blinding on coming traffic, or with the law? Any information appreciated. thanks

I found this on the Sylvania site.

9005 ST 1700 lum Max. 70w. 4000K
9006 ST 1000 lum Max. 60w. 4000K

Would 1700 be too bright? Is 70 watts vs 60 watts an issue on an ES300?
What is brightness rating of bulbs that came from the factory in 1996? thanks

Silverstars are an excellent choice for a lighting upgrade on the ES

I'm guessing that you want to replace the low beam bulbs for the Silverstars, and the bulb type is 9006. FYI the high beam bulb type is 9005. The colored tint around the bulb is the reason for the color of the lighting. It will shine a whitish light, more noticeable at night. You will not be disappointed with the light output; it is 10X better than the stock halogens. I had Silverstars in my '96 ES, and they made a big difference as far as looks and night driving. Once you install the Silverstars, you won't go back, trust me

Unless your low beam lighting is misaligned vertically, you don't need to worry about blinding oncoming traffic. The Silverstars are rated at 4000-4100K, perfectly good to go on the street.
