New hids.... Yellow like a banana
I installed some catz 4500k hids and they are yellow as hell. Yellow as in gs fog light yellow.. The top of the projector is yellow and the rest of it is white. They said that you need a "burn in period". I don't know if i should believe them. Also there seems to be something wrong with my projector. the beam isn't a straight line across. It is like a L turned 90 degrees to the right then continuing. It actually looks likes stairs. Can anyone help me with this or tell me what's going on?
umm.... i am not sure about the break in part. my hid all lights up white and blue the first day. you sure all the wires are good, fuses are good, and battery has enough power right?
and the beam pattern part, is it a full retrofit?

My 1st guess is that your return ground wire from the bulb is creating the yellow. Don't worry....this is somewhat normal. You say "...the top of the projector is yellow and the rest of it is white...."...check if the return ground wire if facing up. Most return ground wire suppose to face down. If it is facing up, then that may explain the weird beam pattern.

i had someone install this. i'm not sure where the return ground wire is and i don't know if it is facing up... how would i check? i'll try to take some pictures tonight to show you guys what's up. the lights look white when your looking at it from a distance. they are yellow when you look at them upclose. you can see them in the headlamp lens.

Another reason maybe a weak battery. I remember Brendanlim having the same problem.....he swapped out ballast and fuses, tried his buddies HID bulbs on his system, and eventually found out it was the battery.

If he has the stock SC projectors with brand new 4500 k bulbs it will look a yellow. Like high beams. The stock headlights dont have the right optics for a HID bulb. They were made for Halogen. They reflect all the light that the bulb emits so the color mixes together and comes out yellowish. Plus if there brand new bulbs they need atleast 100 hours to get them to shift in color. I have Q45 lights in my GS housings and I also put new 4300k Philips bulbs with Hella ballasts. They looked like bright a$$ high beams till i put some time on them. They were designed for a D2S HID bulb. 127 hours later i have some nice color to them and also since they are projectors they have that tight cut off line with that shimmering effect. Either keep your lights on to get them to get bluer or swap them out for some Philips 6000k bulbs. If u dont want them to be that blue get the new Philips + with 5000k color temp.

The actual burn in period is 100 hours...I had NEW 4100k HID before in my car and they were plain halogen yellow like yours...They do turn white after 100 hours...Just wait and you'll see...My friend had 4300k in his civic they were yellow at first, now they are white like its suppose to be...
