The NHSTA is going after the sellers of the kits. There is a MINIMUM 5K penalty if they catch a merchant selling the HID kits. Of course, if they find out that you've been selling for quite some time the penalty will be stiffer.

A couple of months ago, APC was forced to pay a fine of almost a million dollars for their clear headlamps that did not meet DOT certification standards. I doubt you will see many sellers offering HID kits once the ban of sales takes place.

I hope NOT, I dont think so because cars that came w/OEM HID's will still need to buy replacement bulbs

Anyone have any info on this

This is coming from a seller that has an excellent reputation. If you read his posts you can see that he doesn't dish out bs to make a sale. He's also cutting his prices to sell off his inventory... I would think if this was a hoax to boost sales that a good businessman would raise prices due to the increased surge of demand.

Autolamps-Online also confirmed the above in this email:

HID-Online's (Autolamps-Online) affirmation:

Al

You are correct with regards the legislation.

The price you see is what you pay and includes 48 hours shipping (UPS)
directly to your home address, regardless of country or Zip code
