If I understand correctly, nowadays, most cars that comes w/ HID uses the 4600k / 5000k bulbs. How come the ones in BMWs / S2000 seem a lot brighter then the ones in current GS / LS / Mercedes? Could it be related to the projector setup? If so, how come lexus is not doing projector?
Going in lighting. I dunno, Germans have em, not us. Reflector type does not diffuse the color as much, therefore brighter and not purple/blue to oncoming traffic.
Just because they are Projector style lightning doesn't mean they are brighter. I think Lexus provides one of the brighest /focused HID, S2000 lacks auto leveling, that's why you see its lighting turning different color up and down.

completetly wrong. all stock vehicles out there with hid they are all 4100k to 4300k hid, no matter reflective or projective. all 5000k + hid are all street illegal. it's the projective housing that gives the light somewhat more blue look.
projective and reflective housing are just two different hid design. some people say reflective housing has broader coverage on the road, but then projective has better flickering from far away.

they do have auto leveling, and thats not why you see the color change. its because of the actual projector is why you see the color change
Two Lexus models use projector HID: the SC430, and the new RX330. I have read that the freeform (reflector with clear front lens) puts a more even beam pattern on the road, but the projectors have a more focused cutoff.
I'm not familiar with the S2000, but I'm pretty sure that the Acura TL does not have autolevelling (Rominl, you'd know the answer on that one )

yes, the TL/CL/RL don't have autoleveling. autoleveling isn't required here in the US, but in rurope they are required, so...
