just changed out the front corner parking lights on the rx300 with polar m4's. awesome improvement in my opinion!

I may try to too when I replace the four side marker lamps with the new clear chrome lamps.

Is it just the bulb you replaced and is it easily accessible? If not give a brief idea of how long it takes.

The best thing I did for my RX was the installation of six 9005 SilverStar lamps in the high, low and fog lenses. Greatly improved my lighting and it doesn't appear to bother the oncoming traffic...very rarely does anyone ever flash their high beams at me.

it was very easy! from the front wheel wells, you remove the two screws with a philips screwdriver. pull the plastic back and reach in. you should easily find the harness for the bulb. twist it out and replace the bulb with a polarg m4 bulb. shouldn't take long at all! i really hated the yellow bulb in there. totally didn't match.

Thanks! I ordered a pair already. If you have the standard non-HID headlights, I suggest you read through the forum and find the notes explaining how to put the high beam 9005 (SilverStar) bulbs in all 9006 low and fog connectors. It really increases the light output from the vehicle. It's the next best thing to HID without the expense. The modification involves simply cutting some plastic off the bulb housing and no modification at all to the vehicle housing.

 

That looked very nice.

 

I put Polarg 9006 in the fogs and lows. Are the 9005's much brighter? How long do they usually last? How much do they cost? Also, I had trouble just to install the 9006's on the passenger side due to limited space to put my hand in. Will it be really hard to get in there and cut a piece of plastic from the housing?

I put the 9005 High beam Siverstars in all the light positions. It makes quite a difference in the light output power. The Siverstars are at AutoZone and Pep Boys....I paid $20 each but there was a rebate ...it is still on too....$10 off a pair

The vehicle light housing is not modified for the 9005 bulbs (almost identical to 9006 physically). The plastic housing on the base of the 9005 is slightly different than that of the 9006. Therefore they won't just plug in since the small tabs on the bulb will not line up with the light housing on the RX headlamp. There is a procedure explained that tells you how and where to cut the tabs so that the new 9005 bulbs will fit into the 9006 sockets on the RX. You also use the old round rubber sealing gasket off the old 9006 bulb on the new 9005 (This is in addition to the gasket that is alrady on the new bulb. This gives you a tight bulb seal since I think the bulbs actually have a slight difference in the base circumference.) Cutting the plastic tabs on the 9005 requires a sharp set of cutting pliers. This whole procedure is explained in one of the Lighting forum posts but I haven't found it yet. It is actually easier than it seems once you do one bulb. The whole process was an hour for me to cut and change the bulbs.

I just got my Polarg M-4 bulbs but they are called B1 Hybrid and have a blue coat. Were yours coated blue or clear lenses?

 

those are the ones that i have. they have a blue coating on them. you got the right ones.
