Upgrade from 9004 to H4

The 1990 LS's have 9004 type bulbs correct?

The 1993's have H4?

Can I upgrade to an H4 bulb? Or should I swap out the whole headlight unit?

??

Just wondering if anyone has done this or tried it - I'm waiting on a HID kit.

I've been very interested in doing this too. I have a feeling that 9007's might fit, but I havn't tried. It's only a 10 watt gain. They sell H4 retrofit kits at kragen now that are supposed to work on ANY car. . . have you had any luck with a conversion or fitting newer LS headlights?

It wouldn't work very well unless you changed the headlight assembly to the later '93-'94 models. If you try using a H4 bulb in a 9004 assembly, you get a completely different, unfocused/scattered beam pattern that just emits a lot of glare.
