Default HID Kits for 1st Gen Lexus

I dont know know much about HID kits and and Xenon kits and stuff but I do know it helps you see a lot better... could someone please explain what kit I would need to convert my 92 LS400 and what intesity is legal in illinois and stuff like that?

Also, I see that newer cars have a clear headlight cover... has anyone work on any projects to change the front headlight covers to clear so you can see the entire bulb inside?

How about chrome headlights?

well, if you want you can get the 4300k kit, that's the legal color temperature in the US. if you want bluer and whiter look you can get 6000k too, that shoudl be ok. higher than that, don't try, it's too much and too dim, not practical.

and you just need to find out what kind of bulb you use for the low beam (9006? 9005?) and get the kit with that kind of bulb type. also you will need to find a place to mount the ballast (the ignitor for the bulbs) that's all

the clear headlight lens is harder to do though, not sure about the LS.

okay... now what are good brands?

should i rely on those that have japanese writing on them?

has anyone done a conversion with their 1st gen ls400s?

its sooo weird that the headlight covers on the 1st gen ls400s weren't clear to see the inside.... but the ES300s all look so much nicer... plus their fogs are cool azz hell too.

one last question.... the color of my ls400 is gold exterior and beige interior.... this means that extremely blue bulbs wont go well with it... especially with the yellow fog lights...

does 4300k look very white? or has some kind of blue tint to it?

not really. couple of things. if you get a true hid kit, the bulb should be clear glass, never ever blue tint. those are fake bulbs trying to MAKE the color temperature. 4300k is the stock color and it's not that white when compared to 6000k imho. it's a bit yellow actually. 6000k on the other hand is white with a little blue hue around it.

ah.... physics again. all automakers, lexus, acura, audi, bimmer... they all have the same color hid, 4100k or 4300k (pretty much the same).

but the problem is the type of housing. for example most lexus (ls, gs, es) they have reflective housing, whereas bimmer and audi they have projective housing. two totally different design.

if you look at the bimmer and audi, from an angle you see purple flickering. however from straight on all you see it white hid light, EXACTLY the same as what you would see on lexus or acura.

good thing about reflective is that it covers more area, so it lights up the road better. but it doesn't look as spectacular. lights on bimmer, they look good, but it doesn't light up the road as good. for example you might have problem seeing the road signs as clear as reflective housing. i am not saying projective housing is bad, but if you compare the two, those are the differences.
