i always wondered how auto leveling works on reflector housing. On projector housing the entire projector just moves up and down. but how does the auto leveling work on a reflective housing like the gs, is, ls, and many other cars.

If you look closely at the low-beam reflector lamp unit....it's actually a 2-piece unit. The chrome piece adjacent/attached to the HID bulb moves when auto-leveling is necessary..... the rest of the housing does not move.
Like TimDimman suggested, jack up your car and then ask someone else turn your low-beam ON.....it will auto-level quickly.
nah, just ask someone to turn on the headlight for you when you are looking from the front close at the housing. it autolevel once every time it turns on anyway
On the RX, the reflector autolevels when you start the car. It autolevels all 4 reflectors (including the high beam/DRL's). What's wild is if I'm parked up against a storefront window, when I start the car, I'll see the DRL's autolevel also. Once the car is running, if yu switch on the HID lowbeams, the light only comes on....the reflector does not autolevel again. The only time you'll see the HID's autolevel is when you start the car with the headlights in the "on" position or at night with the lights in the "on" or "auto" position.
