Converted to HIDS yet?
Are those guys sure it's a 9005? You better check again. I believe it's a 9006 for the lowbeams.
9005 and 9006 bulbs have identical lengths and filament placement, but the bases and wattage differs. 9005's are 65watts and 9006 are 55. All the projector-equipped (and RX300) use the lower wattage 9006 for lows and 9005s for highs. It's possible that proxenon place uses the same base for 9005 and 9006 HID systems, then different size o-rings to make up for the different base diameters (people have done similar mods to fit 9005 halogens in 9006 equipped lights).

I drove a SL55 AMG and the lights were amazingly bright. Turning on high beams seemed to make the sun rise. Here's the description of their lights. Not much, but wondering if there was a chart out there to compare output.
Xenon High Intensity Discharge low-beam headlamps with automatic leveling (via Active Body Control) and halogen high beams. Driver-selectable light-sensing auto-on headlamps. Driver-programmable Daytime Running Lamps illuminate low-beam headlamps in daylight, with auto-on override in darkness and with wiper use. Heated headlamp washers. Halogen front foglamps. Single red rear foglamp. Auxiliary LED turn indicators, integrated with side mirrors

The brightness of the SL comes from projectors. They use an oem H.I.D set up probably Hella or Orsam. The bulbs on imports OEM (MB, BMW, Acura, Audi, Lexus..) are 4100K-4300K. It's the projector which makes that deep purple bluish color. Audi's, and the Honda S2000's projectors (I think made by Orsam) produce an unreal royal purple color...
With these 7000K and up kit's you are wasting your money. The bulbs on these kits are usually colored or modified in someway to make this color. The color is made naturally by the different optics of the projector lamp itself not the Xenon bulbs....
If you want that bluish color then I would reccommend a 6000K kit at the most. And go with the Auto-Lamps. They make the best retro-fit kit on the market.

Hey... for those who purchased from proxenon... i talked to the dood directly through email and bought 3 sets from him recently. one for my sisters accord... and 2 for my other friends.
Be careful about proxenon... the one set installed on my friends car went out... and i coudln't believe a HID set would go out. The ballast would not turn on at all anymore... we've tried everything. Becareful. Another thing is the 3rd set i got from him, he did not send me the 9006 ADAPTERS. The box was missing a set of 9006 ADAPTERS and i emailed him REPEATEDLY and he did not respond for god know when and when he did respond... he questioned me and didn't believe..... then he said he will send it asap... well guys, never recieved it.
what a load of crap. So becareful guys.. i need to get amex on his *** for crapping me.
good luck.
if i was you guys, i'd go with
www.autolamps-online.com
customer service there was great.
you can also try suvlights.com and i dont remember any other off the top of my head.

I called the TollFree 800 number for Lexus this morning and they did confirm that the lowbeams are indeed 9005 type.
The lady I spoke with had to keep me hanging as she also needed to confirm from her end since it is not stated in the manual.

I am confused as to which aftermarket company from which to purchase the 9500 lowbeam HID conversion kit.
I have emailed three companies, each says their kits are the best and then go on to list reasons why their competitors sell inferior products.
Who is the expert that can lead me in the right direction?

I wanted to confirm is this was the proper HID light.

Hey guys,
I was just sitting around thinking about the whole HID issue for the GX, and then I remembered that I upgraded to a set of Sylvania Xenarc HIDs in my Expedition. My stock Expy lights had a single bulb with both high and low beam filaments (what is that a 9007 I think.) Anyway, correct me if I'm wrong here but aren't the 9007 and 9005 the same base? If that's the case then what you can do is get a Sylvania Xenarc HID kit and not use the headlight assembly that comes with it (you can sell that to offset some of the cost) Right now the Xenarcs are going for about $400 bucks. If you sell the housings for even $50 you are down to $350 for true OEM quality HIDs. I don't have a GX yet, so I can't say for sure if it'll work, and I can't test it on the other 2 lex's 'cuz they are both HID already. It was just something I was tossin' around in my head.

The 9005 (or alledged 9007) are the high beams in the GX. If you take the high beam out and out this new bulb in, what would you gain, high beams or low beams? If low beams you would have two lows.
I'm told you need the kit bypass to convert the voltage. The problem is, you cannot bypass the highs because if you do the high beams will tay on constantly.
I cannot visualize using both high/low in one bulb as I don't see how you would be able to connect them. Plus the projectors are designed to make the low or high, not the bulb. Your aim would be off.

Proxenon has told me they are working with the manufacturer and have a prototype of the actual bulb. They sent me a picture for confirmation.
I should have the actual bulbs in one to two weeks. Additionally they have figured out what to do for the high beams and will work with me to get them running at very little expense.
I'll let everyone know once I get the results.
