I'm looking into getting an hid kit but not sure which way to go...35 watt, 50 watt any brand I need to stay away from or one you would recommend...thanks

 

I have had a set from HIDXtra.com for a couple years with no issues whatsoever. They used to, or may still be a vendor on here. 35watt and 50 watt kit. 6000k and 8000k plug and play.

 

or you could go with ddm tuning. cheapest hid kits i can find out there on the market and havent had a problem with it yet

 

How inexpensive are we talking? I paid $45 shipped with a 5 year warranty on the ballasts if memory serves..

 

Ddm tuning is about the same price with lifetime warranty..have 3 kits from there and only my girls bulbs went out put in for rma and was accepted..just need to ship

 

I had a 6000k kit from HID Extra. I found that my RPM's would jump 500+ and would cause funny electrical things to happen with my car for about 6 months. I finally took them off and never had a problem with standard bulbs for the last 8 months. Granted and can't see worth a damn at night, but I hate driving in the dark as it is.

 

DDM Tuning is definitely the way to go. $35 +shipping, I've had mine for over a year now, never had any kind of whatever issues with it. Lifetime warranty so what if I get issues in the next few months. Although, I'd advice sticking to 5000K 35 watts for the best lighting efficiency.

I have 5000K, 35W for my low beams and fog lights. They have lasted a while and only had to replace one bulb which was discolored - DDM replaced it free of charge and quickly. The lifetime warranty is great.

35 watt HID's are sufficient and there is no reason not to have them. I only recommend you stay between 4500k and 6000k when choosing bulbs. Anything above 6k has poor light output and anything below 4500 looks vanilla colored. For comparison stock IS300 HID's are 4500k, stock BMW HID's are 5500k.

I have used HID's on every car I have owned and my SC has 6000k currently which I could not be more pleased with. They are crisp white and very bright. if I had 5000k they would be brighter, but less of that crystal white I enjoy. I think 6000k is a nice balance of both.

 

i had 35w 8000k hids on my 94 sc. i sold the car so i dont know how theyre holding up but i went a year with them before selling the car and had no problems. now have 55w 6000k hids from hidextra in my 97 sc

Hmmm, DDM tuning may be the new route to take then! My lights are kind of bluish. Might be taking O.L.T's advice and grab some 4500k

 

Go with a 35W HID Conversion kit. We have some available and ready to ship!

IMO, stay away from 55w kits. These kits tend to have more problems than what the advantages offer. Since the higher wattage is producing more light, the HID bulbs will tend to heat up more and burn out quicker than usual. With this, due to the higher heat produced, you have a higher chance of melting your wiring or damaging other components of the light.

Id go with the DDM Tuning kits. I bought their replacement bulb and they were the cheapest around. Like everybody mention i would stay between 4500-6k. Anything over 6k will be just for looks and wont help at seeing at night. I have 6ks and they are bright white with a hint of blue.
