Wired a total of 5 feet of white LED Strip in my trunk. 1x3x1. Just wired to factory light. The factory light was on the left side and was honestly pathetic. They couldn't even center it in the trunk. Now I have plenty of light to say the least.
That's a fantastic improvement. Nice work. I've wondered why BMW and Mercedes light up their interiors and trunks like a livingroom, but Lexus makes do with a little bulb hidden somewhere.
Ours had a tiny 194 bulb. I thought it was underpowered so I put in a 921 bulb. Went from 3 to 18watts which was a nice bump in illumination. The LED wedge types are a bit longish and don't secure into the socket in ours very well. I tried but due to the road vibrations and bumps, it falls out. I don't want it to fall out and get broken/damaged.
good mod. but why u need so much light? i found lexus factory lights are good !
Don't necessarily need THAT much light, but if I am going to do it, I might as well go all out. I should have taken a before pic. But I just a had warm white cylindrical fuse bulb about 1" big on the left side. It barely lit the trunk dimly.
5050 smd panels like this are a great option if they fit your application, here my LS430 with two 12 X 5050 smd panels installed:
This looks awesome. Super bright.
Do you happen to know the dimensions of the housing for the trunk light? LED panels are sold in various sizes and dimensions to fit a variety of sizes.
