Default Swapping HID guts to NON-HID housing?

Hey Guys, I tried searching for my answer, but every time I put in "HID" I get 3,487 pages to look through

So here's my question:
Can I swap my 2000 GS400 HID guts to a NON-HID housing from a GS300/400? If so, is there anything I need to modify? Will auto-leveling convert over, or will it be lost?

Just some background info---I recently purchased a 2000 Black/Black GS400. Passenger head light is in Great shape, but drivers is tired and Yellow. I sanded and polished it to death, but I am still not happy with the results.

Any info or advice or a finger in the right direction would be greatly appreciated

You can but auto leveling wont switch over and the stock ballasts will also not work.

Are you going to be using the reflectors bowl from the new or old housing? Because the reflector bowl for HID and halogen are different. Keep that in mind.

Why won't the stock ballasts work?

Why don't you just swap the lens, or just have a professional buff, polish and put a clear coat on the current one?

^^^ I wish there's a company that just sell the lens if it'd be that easy. I had to buy a brand new headlight just because my old lens is faded and transfered the whole assemblies to the new one. I found a company called DrHeadlight who spray clearcoat on your lens professionally for like a $99 but they're not located in CA.
