Default LED DRL unit power source

I purchased an LED DRL unit thats from another car. The connector on the unit is like one of those HID connector plugs with a rubber ring (picture attached below). From the connector there are 2 wires (1 grey & 1 white) going to the unit and on the unit there is a label that says 12v 6.5a (also pictured in attachment). I want to try and power this unit from the power source of my fog light.

Can anyone tell me if I should be able to simply cut the wire and connect them to the fog power source? will a fog light power source have 6.5a or more? what happens if it's more or less amps from the power source i am using?

and I am assuming that the grey cable is the positive and the white is the ground. could i be wrong and is there any way to confirm?
