Default Drl"s

OK i have searched soo No flaming , ive searched on Drls alot and i have only found ways to disable them.

Basically i like my DRLS, but there just so yellow dim nasty looking. i have heard that if you change them to the 9005 LED versions they wont work beacuse of the half wattage the cars running in DRL mode. So what can i do to have bright DRLS and not disable them and have them work like they do now just brighter , is there a way to get them to power up fully,

If i were to add an hid kit to my DRL they wont come on do to under powered ballast ? HELP!!!!!!!

If they power up 100% they are your high beams, how about changing them out to get rid of they yellow color? there is a thread in the ISF section, I also posted in the thread so will find it, for replacement bulbs from eBay and I love the look. I am happy with the result of them now. I was trying to do the same as you or convert them to HID and this actually worked out good.

Easiest way is to run a relay and a line from the battery to supply full power. Let the low voltage trigger (current connection to the bulb) throw the relay and it sends full voltage from battery to the bulbs. Very easy to do. If you are not comfortable- any audio shop could do it.

v-leds sells a module to connect that will make it work. check their website. but remember that if you drls are the highbeams at 50 percent then with LEds you also lose your highbeams ability.

AM1, can you elaborate on this? I'm looking at getting some 9watt LED's from superbrightleds.com for the DRL instead of using some PIAA's (or equivalent) for my GS. I thought that because they run at half power the LED would only run at half power until you turn on the high beam (for full power). I just want to get rid of the yellow DRL and I'm thinking the LED will match and look better.

heres the link for v-leds module. from what i understand you connect this module, which will give you full output for the 9005 connection. then you just do whatever conversion you are thinking about.

if you search around there are other modules out there that do the same thing.

Default think out of the box

A little out of the box thinking here. If you look at a 9003 or 9004 or 9007 bulb they are a low/high beam bulb. So what if you fabricate an "adapter" that will allow you to plug in a 9003 bulb into a 9005 socket. Then all you would need to do is wire the low beam to to +12v DRL and the high beam to work as normal. Just curious if this can be done . Something to think about and it would solve the problem. My 2 cents
