I'm trying to run D4R hid bulbs in my h4 housing and dont want the bulb to be dangling or deal with rebasing it. I was wondering if the H4 to D2S/D2r adapter would work on the D4s/D4r, are they structurally different to not allow this? It seems people have no problem swapping out d4s and d2s on their ignitors and even though it wouldn't work it seems to fits fine.

Picture of the adapters.

Any help would be great.

To me personally, I would assume the D4S bulbs would fit those adapters. The only difference I can see, base wise, is the location of the notches. The D2 bulb looks like the semicircle is at 1 o'clock and D4 is at 3. Which really doesn't matter because they're of no use. Here's a couple of pics to help.

Thanks for the additional pictures. I was comparing d2x and d4x for a while and they looked exactly the same with similar diameters that allowed for them to be used interchangeably in ignitors not intended for them; i.e. d2s in d4s ignitor.

I'll let you know how it goes, just picked up the d4rs and ordered the h4 shield/adapters.

A friend told me the lightning section on clublexus is a ghost town but I'm glad people still care enough to post :
