Question Need new D4S bulbs

Hey guys, I need new D4S bulbs. Just replaced them a year ago with some pretty cheap ones and they worked great till one went out and now the other is pink and about to go out. Dealer said the HID system doesn't work well with aftermarket and wants $250 a bulb. I've replaced the bulbs once and it isn't hard. Just need to know a good bulb. Amazon is all over from the $20 for a set to $150 for one. I just want a 6000K bulb that won't go out in under a year, any suggestions for brands that have worked well for you? Also, Saw someone say that the bulbs are 42W, all the ones I am seeing are 35W. Which is true?

I've heard of good things of the Phillips D4S bulbs, a few members use them around the forums.

Buy some Osram CBI's if you want an OEM bulb at 6000k. TheRetrofitSource has them for around $155 a set if I recall correctly. They sell their own in-house brand as well for $60 for a set of two D4S bulbs.

You can't go wrong with genuine Philips or Osram. I'm very happy with the Osram CBI bulbs I installed on my IS350 more than three years ago. Just be aware that there are lots of counterfeit HID bulbs on Amazon and eBay, so I bought mine from an authorized reseller (XenonDepot)

They are certainly 35W, I replaced an OEM HID ballast last weekend, and that's what it was rated at.

I imagine he's getting the 42 from the voltage as that's what D4S ballasts run at. The bulbs themselves are 35w.

I've learned the hard way with cheap HID bulbs. Do it once, do it right. Get some Philips and be done with it.
