Default need help with 9006 9005

ok i bought HID 9006 for my 2nd gen gs and wanted to install it in my friends 08 rx but she has the 9005. will it work on her car? i think all i have to do is grind down the tap in the 9006 wires to fit on the oem 9005 harness. is this correct? i also read that the 9005 is smaller so will the bulb fit in the headlight? i dont want do blow a bulb or screw up anything on her car so i was searching but didnt get a definite answer. can someone please help thanx.

raceroyce-

Good question. The 08 RX actually takes an H11 for the low, 9005 for the high, and 9006 for the fog. Are you accidentally trying to mount these into her high beams or is this on purpose? If on purpose, yes, it is possible to grind down the tabs to fit into the high beam.

While grinding down the plug to fit may work, I suggest selling the bulbs and picking up the right bulb size for whatever she actually needs because you may possibly ruin the bulbs while modding them (not too many places to grip a bulb if you're going to be sanding down the base). If you absolutely want to make it work, it will fit but only into her high beams, her low beams take a completely different bulb (H11) if she doesn't have OEM HID.

Good luck.

raceroyce - not sure how that would work. I suggest NOT doing it because something could come loose while your friend is driving and she could be stranded with no headlights.

honestly man, put the kit into the RX fog lights and get a new kit for the low beams. check my signature for a link on discounted hid kits.

good luck!
