I just got 3000k HID fog light installed. The color was very nice and much brighter. I found out the fog light of driver side top tab broke. I tested the aiming yesterday, the driver side form a straight line to the wall with the same height as the fog light. As per the passenger side, it form a big circle and about 12 feet from my car. Anyone know which side is aiming correctly? Does the driver side broken tab makes it aim up or I need to adjust the passenger side?
By tab, you mean one of the mounting tabs right? That shouldn't affect the aim as long as the housing still stays in place properly with the other tabs.
I'm not sure that there's a "correct" aiming for the fogs, I think the main thing is that you don't want them aimed too high blinding people, especially with the HID kit. They'll mostly fill in the space right in front of the car that the headlights miss and brighten up the foreground; so I'd be inclined to aim them a little more down than up.
Maybe someone else can chime in with a little more definitive answer, that's just my opinion and outlook on it.
yeap, the broken tab shouldn't affecting the light as long the second tab holds it into place. Just curious which one is correct? One is straight, one make a circle...
I think mine hit the ground almost right in front of the bumper, probably a foot or so out. A raccoon took out one of my fogs recently and I had to pull part of the wiring harness for the HID's so I can't check exactly how they are until I get it fixed but I remember the bottom of the beam forming a half-circle close to the bumper. Sorry I can't be any better help! Hopefully someone else will chime in.
Per your "I just got 3000k HID fog light installed. The color was very nice and much brighter. I found out the fog light of driver side top tab broke."
I just changed my fog light bulbs last week during which I found the tab on the passenger side fog light was broken. I removed the assembly (very simple to do, two {I think** 10mm bolts) and all of 20 seconds turning a ratchet.
I used Gorilla Glue to bond the tab back on to the assembly. Gorilla Glue is great and adheres to just about anything ($5 at Target or Home Depot).
After putting the glue on I held it together overnight with a couple rubber bands. Back on the next day and no problems since.
I thought about the aim or level (as you inquired) but found it's not needed as the fog light coverage starts right in front of the bumper and covers the area where low beams don't hit. Hope this helps you.
